As of October 1 we will be experiences two changes, first you will not be able to pay with orange or pink slips anymore (we wrote about this here), and secondly gone are the days of fast forwarding through adverts when you are in replay mode. You will either see a minimum of a 5 second advert, or a static advert when you press pause or be stuck with a minimum of 130 seconds of adverts….. unless you are willing to pay more for your abo.

The city of Lucerne is embracing its car unfriendly status by proposing to cut 50% of all public parking spots by 2040. Currently there are 7300 parking spots in town but this should be reduced to only less than 3700. This is to reduce the CO2 levels in the air and help with the zero emission target the city has set for itself.

There currently are 13 807 new cases of Covid-19 in Switzerland, this puts the 7 day average at 1967. In average 21 people per day are hospitalised with the illness, 30 are in intensive care and an average of 1 person a day dies because of the disease. It is recommended for anyone in the “at risk category” aged 16 and above to get a top up vaccine.

You may have noticed a lot more people with cold symptoms, this is because our immune systems are weaker as they were not exposed to as many viruses in the last 2 years and have forgotten how to fight off colds as well.

Franco-Swiss film director Jean Luc Godard aged 91 died by assisted suicide in Switzerland yesterday. His films are iconic and were part of the “new wave” movement of film making. His most famous film is “Breathless” which he made in 1960 which also launched the career of hearthrob Jean-Paul Belmondo.
