Everything you need to know about Lucerne’s 2024 Luga

In exactly one week today the Luga will kick-off not far from the central streets of Lucerne. Running since 1978, the Luga is a trade fair hosting over 450 exhibitions and stalls aimed at showcasing produce, agriculture, household improvements, electronics and everything in-between.

So let’s take a look at what you can expect from one of Lucerne’s biggest events of the year.

When is the Luga taking place?

It is open daily from Friday 26th April – Sunday 5th May. The fair runs from 10am to 6.30pm, with the exception of Sunday when it closes at 6pm. Some attractions such as the Lunapark are open later over the weekend.

What can you expect to find?

There is no doubt that there will be something for everyone at Lucerne’s Luga. 

  • The Lunapark offers fun rides such as a Ferris wheel and Niagara slide.
  • An event stage will host over 100 events from music, sport and cultural activities.
  • There will be numerous food and drink stalls to choose from, including ‘Restaurant Chalet’ offering you classic Swiss dishes, a self-service restaurant, homemade cakes and sweet streets, and much more. Find a full list here.
  • And as for the other 400-or-so exhibitors you will find a huge variety. From pottery, arts, crafts, and woodwork, to a petting farm, Equestrian Association, and numerous local breweries. 

How much does it cost?

There are two prices for the entrance fee, one allows entry anytime and the other from 4pm.

  • Adults: 17 CHF (12 CHF from 4pm)
  • Teenagers (6-16 years old): 12 CHF (7 CHF from 4pm)
  • Students: 12 CHF (7 CHF from 4pm)
  • Pensioners: 12 CHF (7 CHF from 4pm)
  • People with disabilities: 12 CHF (7 CHF from 4pm)
  • Owners of the SBB-GA: 12 CHF (7 CHF from 4pm)

How do you get to the Luga?

Located at the Allmend / Messe train station and bus stop, the Luga is easily accessible by bus, train, car or foot from Lucerne or elsewhere in Switzerland. The number 20 bus goes directly from Lucerne Train Station. If you are travelling by car then the event is offering a free shuttle bus to parking near-by.
