Today Joe Biden, president of the United States, will be flying into Geneva ahead of his summit with president Putin of Russia. Today he will be meeting with our president, Guy Parmelin, to discuss the relationship between Switzerland and America. Geneva is, at the same time, ramping up security and rolling out the red carpet for the event.

Switzerland is still reeling from the CO2 law being defeated on Sunday. A lot of finger pointing is going on with a clear divide between city dwellers and rural areas. Now the country has to figure out how to meet the zero emission deadline without being able to implement big changes in its climate policies.

Yesterday’s Women’s Strike was well attended all over the country. In Lucerne some 2000 people took part in the demonstration. It remains to be seen whether any changes will come of it…
