World Radio Switzerland

Did you know that there is an English language radio station in Switzerland? World Radio Switzerland are based in the Lake Geneva region. Not only do they bring you live shows, local and national news and locally contributed programmes but they are the official radio partner for the BBC in Switzerland, meaning you can get all your regular new updates along with other BBC programmes. WRS first broadcast on 25th June 1996 as ‘World Radio Geneva’ (commonly known as WRG) and has been a much beloved part of the Anglophone community in the Lake Geneva region since.

This year to mark their 20th birthday, they announced that WRS is now available on DAB+ in several new regions of Switzerland – Lucerne, Basel, Zug and Winterthur with many more to follow. To mark the occasion two of their presenters, Mark and Emma, took off on a road-trip Friday September 30 in a BMW i8. Sounds normal enough, but the catch was that they were to keep going until the car ran out of power, with a contest running for whoever guessed the correct kilometres the car would stop at. What could you have won? A BMW i8 for a whole year! They travelled from Geneva to Bern, Interlaken, Lucerne, Zug and Basel. We were lucky enough that they stopped by the LiLi Centre and Mark had a quick chat with Audrey about the centre and Living in Luzern.

You can catch WRS broadcasts on DAB+ or you can listen to the station online through their website and on their mobile apps for iPhone and Android.

Thank you WRS!
