It was a victory for the LGBTQ+ community yesterday when the “Marriage for All” initiative was passed by 64.1% of voters. This now means that it is not only legal for same sex couples to marry but also to adopt or receive sperm donation treatments.

The 99% which asked that people with investments be taxed 1.5 times higher initiative was rejected by 64.9% of voters. The Young Socialist party who initiating this motion is already talking about their next initiative which would be to tax anyone with a fortune of more than 100 million francs with a climate tax.

Locally both the budgets for the new road between Littau and Kriens and the Zimmereggbadi were approved.

The canton of Uri rejected the motion to allow 16 year olds the right to vote, this is the second time this initiative was put forward in the canton and rejected.

20 years ago a man walked into the Zug parliament building and shot randonmly killing 14 people and injuring a further 18 before killing himself. A commemorative ceremony will take place later today.

Saturday night, in the town of Geuensee, a fight broke out at petrol station between immigrants and Swiss. Several people were injured and a 20 year old man from Kosovo was killed. The police is looking for anyone who witnessed what happened and is asking they call 041 248 81 17 with information.
