Good news for families, the government has decided to invest 130 million in the creation of new childcare centres “krippe” all over the country. This means that the current programme will be extended by a further 4 years in order to answer the increasing demand for childcare. A welcome move for working parents.

This Saturday the Fumetto festival started and will run throughout the whole week. This is an international festival celebrating comics of all kinds. There are exhibitions all over town, as well as workshops and performances. Be sure to check out their programme right here.

It seems that a favourite method for making a political statement in Lucerne is squatting empty buildings. A new building has been occupied, this time Auf Musegg 1, and the governement has decided to not do anything about it, this has got several political parties wondering why. As usual the reason given for the squatting is the need for more affordable housing in the area.
