Znüni News – Friday August 24

Ever heard of the Die Toten Hosen? They are a German rock group (and yes, their name is the dead trousers) and the reason why they are relevant to us is because tomorrow they are playing at the Allmend to an audience of 50 000 rocking spectators. The city is warning about expected traffic chaos in the whole area. The concert begins in the afternoon, so if you need to go anywhere either leave in the morning or be prepared for delays.

Last year the tax office caused an uproar for charging citizens an extra CHF 1.50- if they wanted their tax bill by post. This was because they had put in place an e.billing system but had badly informed the public and virtually noone knew about it. The canton has now decided that the CHF 1.50.- will need to be reimbursed to every citizens who paid for it. Some 20 000 Luzerners had opted for civil disobedience by paying their taxes minus CHF 1.50.-.

This summer is considered to be one of the hottest on record but it isn’t the absolute hottest which was in 2003, however all of the regional lidos are very happy with this season with an average of 10% more visitors. The current rain front  is putting an end to the heatwave and we can expect temperatures to drop by 10 degrees celsius this weekend.

Finally here is some music from Die Toten Hosen for you to enjoy.
