Sledding with Kids near Luzern

Although Luzern seems to be too warm for snow at the moment, you only have to drive about 40 minutes south to find the perfect place to take the little ones sledding. The Klostermatte at Brunni Engelberg is easy to get to and free if you have your own sled and don’t want to use the magic carpet (a conveyor belt like thing which pulls you up the side of the mountain).

Some thoughts – we rented sleds from a local shop which cost 10 chf each, however, when we got to the mountain we found out we could hire them for 5 chf. That being said, having the sleds made the trip from the car to the mountain and back that bit easier. Conveniently, there is lunch available at the bottom of the sledding area with Alpenmacaroni and hot dogs, among other things.

Additional costs – Magic carpet 15 chf for adults (8 chf after 2pm), toddlers and babies are free. Parking is 5 chf.
