The government has made the following decisions, leading many people to speculate that we may be nearing the end of the pandemic:
As of February 3.
Home office is not mandatory anymore but continues to be recommended. Employers may check their employees Covid certificates in order to decide on which measures to be implemented in the office.
People who have been in contact with someone testing positive will no longer have to go into quarantine. This includes family members. However the person testing positive must go into isolation.
In the cantons of Lucerne and Schwyz primary school pupils will no longer be required to wear masks during class. Mask wearing remains mandatory for teachers.
The rest of the measures are to remain in place for the time being.
The government has sent two proposals to the cantons for consultation. One sees the remaining restrictions being lifted on a specific “freedom day”, the other sees them lifted at various stages over the coming weeks.
