Znüni News – Tuesday December 14

This coming Friday the government will announce which of these three new set of measures have been approved by the cantons. Version 1: a “2G+” system. This would mean that only people able to prove that they have been vaccinated and/or recovered from Covid-19 will be allowed in restaurants, fitness centres, museums or cultural events. Having a test done will no longer suffice. Indoors, those allowed in would have to sit and wear a mask. Version 2: the same as version 1 but all venues with the possibility of taking masks off such as restaurants, fitness centres, discos and bars would have to close. Version 3: would be a short term lockdown. Further measures would be: limiting private events to 5 people if one of the people is neither vaccinated nor recovered, reinstating home office, and distance learning at university level. Which, if any, of these measures will be chosen depends on how the situation in the intensive care units look like. Currently St Anna hospital is reporting that its ICU is full, and Kantonspital is also approaching a critical level.

Meanwhile the government held a special press conference yesterday urging people who are already doubly vaccinated, and whose second vaccine was 6 months or longer, to get a booster jab.

As of January children from the ages of 5+ may also have access to the vaccine.

Since December 12th the SBB has its new train timetable. Next to local changes, there is a new night train from Zürich to Köln and Amsterdam and the Zürich to Münich train only takes 3 and a half hours instead of four. You can find all the details here.
