Znüni News – Tuesday August 25

After Basel yesterday, Zurich is implementing the wearing of masks in all shops beginning this Thursday. There now is talk of this rule being rolled out for the whole nation. At the beginning of this pandemic all decisions were made on a national level, but since June each canton can decide for itself which safety rules need to be observed, explaining why some cantons enforce certain rules and others don‘t.

Yesterday saw a drop in reported cases with only 157 being registered, however the UK is still considering putting Switzerland on its list of countries that require quarantine upon reentry, the decision will be made in the coming days.

In Kriens, 20 children from a kindergarten class have had to go into quarantine for 10 days after their teacher tested positive for covid-19. The teacher developed flu like symptoms and was tested on Friday, the parents were informed of the requirement to quarantine their children as soon as she got the results back.

On August 13, three cars were purposefully set on fire for reasons unknown in the Villastrasse. This street is where last year squatters took over an old villa which is due to be demolished. It is unclear whether the two events are linked.
