The government has announced that they will be implementing a new Swiss Covid Certificate from November 16 which will be valid in the country and will allow people recovered from the virus to have the certificate for 365 days after proof of contracting the illness versus 180 days as is now the case (we will share more details on the new covid certificate in a separate post). In parallel the government is launching a nationwide vaccination campaign from the 8. to 14. of November with concerts and pop up vaccination centres, in hopes of getting more people vaccinated before the winter sets in and number of cases go up even further.

The Lucerne Marathon is meant to be a chance for people to challenge themselves physically and mentally. A 42 year old man got a nasty surprise when he was arrested shortly after crossing the finishing line. He was a fugitive wanted for a string of offenses in the canton of Schwyz and, by coincidence, the policeman who had been looking for him happened to be cheering people at the finishing line. He recognised him and promptly had him arrested.

Did you know that Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff used to live in Lucerne? His villa is being bought by the town and will be renovated for a total of CHF 15 million. It will then be turned into a cultural centre.

Traffic has been chaos at rush hour in the last few days, each time this has been because of an accident on the A2 which has then forced motorists to go through town. The canton is now trying to work out what they can do to make the stretch of highway around Emmen safer.
