The debate about how much money should be given to underage asylum seekers continues. Whereas in the canton of Luzern a minor can expect to receive CHF 90.- in canton Zug the minimum they receive is closer to CHF 475.-. The discrepency is down to the fact that asylum seeker policy is treated in a federalistic way, meaning that each canton is free to do as they please.

Luzern as a hot dating scene? not what necessarily comes to mind but the television channel Pro 7 will be producing a show called Montana Kitchen Date, filmed in the Montana Hotel and where 3 singles will have to prepare a main course for a potential suitor. Love goes via the stomach as the Swiss like to say…

Yesterday shortly after 14.15 part of canton Zug was without electricity for close to 20 minutes affecting 15 000 customers. Although 20 minutes seems a short time it was enough to make people aware of how reliant we are on electricity in our day to day life as pretty much everything came to a grinding halt. From being able to make coffees, withdraw money, work on computers. Luckily people kept their cool and the police reported no incidents as a result of the electricity shortage.
