Because unemployment is so low, (1.4% in the canton of Bern), 40 bureaucrats working at the unemployment office RAV face losing their jobs. Although the problem is less in other cantons it remains a fact that in several cantons people leaving their jobs at RAV may not necessarily be replaced.

Federal councillor Simonetta Sommaruga is leaving her post early in order to look after her husband who has recently had a stroke. Her successor is to be from the socialist party and a woman, the person will be voting in on December 7th. To date 4 potential candidates have put their names forward, they come from the cantons of Zurich, Bern, Basel and the Jura.

Last Friday a driver in Cham filled their tank up at a gas station but when it was time to leave they forgot to remove the nozzle from their car, leading to the gas pump to be completely destroyed and 350 liters of fuel spiling into the street and into a stream. The police are looking for any witnesses.

In Lucerne, it is no longer possible to drop someone off by car in front of the train station. Instead coaches will be unloaded their passengers there. The drop off zone will now be in front of the old post office next to the university.

This week the weather will be mainly grey and rainy and the temperatures will be in the low teens.
