Znüni News – Monday March 13.

In a surprise turn of events, the motion put forward by the socialist party to restrict AirBnBs in Lucerne was voted in by a large majority (64%) yesterday. Meaning that in the future people in Lucerne will only be allowed to rent out their apartments as either AirBnB or Business flats for a maximum of 90 days a year. There is a general feeling that there simply are not enough affordable apartments for rent in the city which is why this motion resonated with so many people.

The cantons of Nidwalden and Obwalden both voted against the opportunity to be climate neutral by 2040.

The baked goods company Pistor will be allowed to build two 30 meter high buildings in Rothenburg, this was put to a vote yesterday and overwhelmingly approved (82%).

As of April the Merz bakery downtown will not serve as a post office counter anymore. The owners were fed up with people being aggressive towards them and have decided to focus on what they do best, serving delicious baked good.

Currently 1058 various medications are out of stock in Switzerland. This is because the country outsources the production of most of its medications and, because of the ongoing political crisis with Europe, contracts with producers from the EU are stalling.

There is a saying “der April der macht was er will”, April will do what it wants. It seems as if now March has taken on this saying too; after this weekend’s snow, there will be temepratures close to 20° celsius today followed by more snow Tuesday and Wednesday and warmer temperatures again thereafter. Enjoy!
