According to a recent study, Switzerland has room for up to 11.4 million inhabitants without having to make massive infrastructural changes. Somewhat surprisingly in view of the current lodging crisis, Zurich supposedly has the most room for growth, with another 500 000 inhabitants being able to move to the canton. Lucerne would have room for another 38 500 bringing the number of inhabitants to 450 000. Obwalden would have the least room with only 1000 inhabitants being able to move without making having to make massive improvements to the current structure (electricity grid, water, roads etc)…

Studies into the refuse water shows that there currently is an Omicron wave going through the country which is worse than in July 2022. The reason why noone is really talking about it, is because the symptoms are, in general, no worse than the flu and hardly anyone is bothering to have a PCR test anymore.

There are not enough organ donors in Switzerland. Last year, 83 people who were on the waiting list for an organ died because no organ was available for them. So far this year a further 29 people died whilst waiting for an organ donor. There currently are 1447 people waiting for an organ in Switzerland. The donor rules have been changed with people having to actively opt out of doning their organs, but the system will not be fully active until 2025, meaning that in the meantime people still have to show either a donor card or a patient’s living will.

A man who attacked his ex-wife several times over years has been sentenced to 2.5 years in prison and will then be expulsed and banned from reentry for 7 years. What is astonishing is that the events took place in 2017 and he is only being judged now. During the years in between, he reattacked his ex wife several times. If justice gets done, it seems to take an awful long time to do so!
