What’s On – June 16 – 18

This week has quite a few things happening in central Switzerland.

Friday June 16:

How about trying your hand at Padelta? This sport half way between tennis and squash has become the must try-out sport. We have a special deal for our readers to try this sport out in Rothenburg tonight at 18.00. The cost of CHF 35.- includes an intoductory sessio, a chance to try the sport and an apero afterwards. Be sure to sign up soon as places are limited.

The biggest event this weekend in central Switzerland will be the Jodelfest in Zug, starting on Friday at 13.00 and running until Sunday. This will be the chance for you to discover this very Swiss cultural tradition. Jodelling groups from all over Switzerland will be singing their hearts out, whilst wearing beautiful traditional costumes. There will also be alphorn concerts and flag throwing demonstrations, and, of course, plenty of opportunities to drink and be merry. A parade will take place on Sunday through the town from 14.00 to 16.00.

Saturday June 17:

To celebrate Pride month, the city of Zurich is having its own Pride Festival which will run until Saturday with a demonstration for equality from 13.00 to 17.00 and a Pride festival afterwards. You can find out more here.

Lucerne will be celebrating its first “Mini Con” festival, embracing all things Cosplay. There will be Cosplay Costume competitions, workshops, comic sellers and a Q&A with Michael Pan who is the German voice for many sci-fi characters, including Data in Star Trek. You can find out more here.
