LiLu Festival – January 12 – 23

Between 12 and 22 January 2023 Lucerne becomes a gathering place immersed in light. The fourth edition of the Lilu Light Festival Lucerne finds artists from all over the world showcasing light in all its manifold and fascinating facets. Discover creative light installations on a heart-warming winter walk and experience an attractive side programme designed to appeal to all the senses. Between 6 and 10 p.m. daily, squares, tourist attractions and alleys in the Old Town and around the bay will be artfully illuminated.

Of particular interest is the light show Äon a wonderful journey through the four seasons – a homage to life and eternity. The 30-minute show by the artist collective Projektil is even bigger this year and celebrates its world premiere in the impressive Jesuit Church in Lucerne. Created especially for Lilu, Äon tells the touching metamorphosis of spring, summer, autumn and winter and takes the audience on a colourful rollercoaster of emotions. Throughout the festival various musicians will be accompanying the show. You can buy your tickets here.

Hans Erni – Unesco Panels

Only one week left to go and see this exhibition! The Hans Erni Museum has received on permanent loan from the Swiss Federal Art Collection the 13 picture panels that the artist created in 1949 for the UNESCO exhibition at the Zurich Kongresshaus. In the exhibition, the picture panels, intended to visualize the ideas of UNESCO, were juxtaposed with busts of Swiss personalities who, like Albrecht von Haller, Gottfried Keller, Charles Ferdinand Ramuz, and Heinrich Wölfflin, “embody a cosmopolitan country that seeks international exchange in research and culture and is committed to respect for human rights.” These impressive, brightly colored panels have recently been restored and are now on display again after decades!
