50 % discount for the double premiere of “Exploration of Energy”.
“It is a breathtaking crescendo for the eyes and ears: the ensemble brings a force to the stage that literally sweeps the audience along,” says Christian Oechslin from SRF in his premiere review. “The audience thanks the dancers of TanzLuzern for their energetic top performance with standing ovations and enthusiastic shouts that do not stop when the last curtain has already fallen,” writes Susanne Holz from the Luzerner Zeitung and continues: “This has power, force, elegance.”
In “Exploration of Energy”, two choreographers meet at the Lucerne Theatre who have one thing in particular in common: They do not think of their creations in terms of a theme. Instead, their point of departure is music, they start with its inherent energy: In her creation, Lida Doumouliaka makes use of the furore of Igor Stravinsky’s “Sacre du Printemps”. The young Greek immerses herself in this traditional composition and creates a powerful performance for eight dancers. South Korean Jae-Duk Kim takes a completely different approach in his work with TanzLuzern. He develops his movement vocabulary, which could be described as a fusion of contemporary dance, martial arts and Korean tradition, on the basis of self-composed electronic sounds and beats.
With the first premiere of the 23/24 season, TanzLuzern proudly presents its new members, who coherently complement the international ensemble.
