Great family friendly hikes

We love when our members actively suggest insider tips. Here are some great hiking ideas that came up recently.

Gelmersee, is a fantastic hike, our inhouse outdoor expert Luke Bragg wrote a fantastic piece explaining what you need to know to make the most of this hike: The hidden Switzerland

If you want to have a fun family day out, the Fräkmüntegg area on Pilatus is ideal. Whether it’s the rope park, the new dragon flyer, the playground area there is loads to explore there.

The Bannalpsee is another favourite, with a couple of playgrounds as well as loads of exploring opportunities and a detective trail to follow.

The Seelisberg region is a great area to hike. You can reach relatively quickly from Lucerne and enjoy family friendly hikes. Find out more here.

The village of Emmetten is best known as part of the Seelisberg ski region, but it offers great summer hikes, based around a tipi village easily accessible by cable car from the village of Emmetten, they offer a range of fun activities including a detective trail. Guaranteed fun for the whole family.

Engelberg ende der Welt. I’ve always loved the idea that the end of the world is just after Engelberg. You certainly feel that way when you look up at the sheer mountain rising above you. An easy 1 hour hike will get you from downtown Engelberg to the Ende der Welt, where a rustic restaurant welcomes you. On the way you can also stop off at the pirates lake, for a bit of a splash or even a BBQ.

And if you want a bit of magic then the Wirzweli Play area is a wonderful witch themed hike and play area for you to enjoy.

There are many more hikes but these have been tested by members and enthusiastic hikers. Enjoy and stay safe.
