Much to everyone’s relief the test results from the two patients in Zürich thought to have coronavirus came back negative. So far no one in Switzerland has been diagnosed as having the disease. The flu continues to march through the land though, so keep washing those hands!

One of the main consequences for Lucerne from the coronavirus scare is that Chinese tourists are staying away as they have been banned from travelling abroad for the time being.

The Chapel Bridge is currently undergoing renovations, i.e. the wooden steps at the southern end of the bridge are being replaced. The work is scheduled to be finished by this Friday.

For those of us living in the higher parts of the city we awoke to see a sprinkling of snow on the ground. This is only the second winter in 89 years that so little snow has fallen in the city, and with temperatures rising again it looks like we all need to head for the mountains to get some snow.

However storm Lolita did cause a lot of damage yesterday with trees toppling and roof tiles being blown away. Luckily the damage was only material and no one was actually hurt.
