Last Thursday in Schaffhausen a 5 year old girl was fine CHF 100.- for riding a bus without a ticket and entered into the criminal registry. The reason? In Schaffhausen children under the age of 6 who are accompanied by someone under the age of 12 need to have a ticket. In this case the girl was accompanied by her sister who is 10, and the older girl didn‘t know about this ruling. A national public outcry followed and yesterday the fine was cancelled and the young girl removed from the registry.
