Echinaforce cures coronavirus! Well, maybe…… well… no one knows for sure.

In any case the Virology Journal published an article stating that an in-vitro test showed that an Echinaforce solution, produced by the Swiss company a.Vogel AG, managed to kill the Covid-19 virus. This news was all it took for chemists and drugstores in Switzerland to complete run out of stock yesterday. But! and it is a big one, no trials have been conducted on humans. Whilst it is known that Echinaforce can help to reduce the symptoms of colds, nothing has shown, so far, that the same is true with the coronavirus. Even the laboratory who did the trial asked everyone to not think that this was the definite cure, as when they used human cells with the virus in them it had nearly no effect. Further tests need carrying out.

Credit Suisse and UBS are preparing to merge! Well, maybe …. well .. no one is quite sure.

In the meantime, the stock markets went crazy yesterday, with the news that two giants could become one mega bank. Neither banks were prepared to comment and, whereas some insiders were already giving the project the name “Signal”, others were saying that this was the first they had heard of this. What seems to be behind the story is a study that UBS president Axel Weber asked to have made, looking into the impact of a merger. Banks have not been left undamaged by the pandemic and are looking at ways of adapting and expanding, a megabank would be one of many solutions.

We’ll soon have to wear masks in shops!… well… maybe….

Yesterday the cantonal parliament came to the decision that should the numbers of cases continue to grow (they currently are doubling every 4 to 6 weeks), then they would call for a mandatory wearing of masks in shops. However not in all shops; depending on the size and safety concept already put in place you may or may not have to wear a mask in a shop in Lucerne. Confused yet?

The cantons of Zürich, Basel Stadt, Freiburg, Jura, Geneva, Waadt, Neuenburg, Solothurn and Wallis have all already imposed the wearing of masks in shops.

Two years ago a driver managed to get caught on radar three times within 15 minutes going at 120 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The judgement finally came through, he will be sent to jail for 20 months and have to pay CHF 3000.- This much we know.
