Znüni News – Thursday May 10

If you are planning to go to the Tessin for a long weekend then hopefully you are going by public transport because already there is a waiting time of 1 hour in front of the Gotthard pass. This is a unfortunately a frequent occurence but the locals are still resisting the suggestion of having one tunnel in each direction to ease the flow of traffic. A new tunnel is in the planning but according to the government it will be used in lieu of the current one and the one lane traffic will continue, so prepare for even longer traffic jams in the future!

Tourists on the Mythen lake ship were in for a nasty shock yesterday afternoon, when the ship developed a leak and started taking water on board. The passagers were dropped off in Gersau and taken back to Luzern by bus whilst the boat headed for the shipyard to undergo repair work where it will stay until Monday. Another ship will replace it in the meantime, meaning that scheduled trips can continue.

The FC Luzern football team can hold their heads up high again as they have climbed up to place 3 in the national ranking under the guidance of their new coach Gerardo Seoane. The team has had a turbulent time in the past few months but seems to have really turned a corner and we are looking forward to going to support them once the new season kicks off in July.
