Fasnacht “light” is going ahead, this means that if you want to party you will most probably have to go into a café or restaurant. To avoid large queues of people waiting in front of every venue, the town has come up with a special concept. Revellers will have to show their Covid certificate in the first restaurant/café they go to and will then be given a wristband which will give them access to all the restaurants/bars/cafés for the rest of the day. To avoid any possibility of cheating the wristband will be a different colour each day.

You may have seen the name Pierin Vincenz and Raiffeisen making the headlines in the last couple of days. Mr Vincenz is the former CEO of the Raiffeisen bank and is being accused of having used at least half a million of bank money for his own pleasure, including spending money in brothels in Lucerne. He is also being accused of insider dealing. Mr Vincenz is said to be not only big in stature, 1m82, but also in personality as he managed to charm his way out of many dodgy situations in the past; including a bust up in a 5 star hotel in Zurich where he caught his mistress in the arms of another man. The damage to the hotel room and the pay off to the woman is said to have been over 1.5 million francs. The court case is being played out in the press and several other prominent businessmen will have to answer questions about their past behaviour and dealings with the man.

This is in line with many other countries who have decided to not travel to China in view of the strict Covid-19 restrictions there. Only Poland and Russia will be represented by their respective presidents.
