The agricultural sector may contribute less than 1% of Switzerland’s GDP, but the farming lobby is one of the biggest and farmers tend to align behind the SVP ideologies. It is therefore not surprising that when it comes to improving biodiversity, farmers want to have nothing to do with it, and have rejected both the initiative to have more farming land turned over to rewilding and its counterproposal. According to them the onus is on cities and towns to be greener.

The Catholic church in Switzerland is currently in crisis because of the review which showed that, in the last 50 years, there had been at least 1000 cases of sexual misconduct by members of the clergy towards, mainly, minors. As a result of this, the last week has seen the largest exodus of church members. An association which helps people wishing to fill out the required form in order to leave the church has noticed a massive spike in dowloads of its free form.

The Gotthard Tunnel reopened this weekend, but with a maximum speed of 60 km/h, the repair work was done and the supposed reason behind the crack was a small local earthquake. Meanwhile the structural damage has led to a pause in the building of the new tunnel, whilst damage is being assessed there.

This weekend was the 25th anniversary of the opening of the KKL and as a consequence there were a lot of activities to be enjoyed. Various concerts in the different spaces as well as a free visit of the now lworld wide renowned concert hall. Over 10 000 tickets were sold. Happy birthday KKL!
