Znüni News – Monday October 17

The Lucerne Autumn Fair ended yesterday, and an estimated 400 000 visitors enjoyed the rides and various attractions. Whereas the good weather no doubt played a part in the success of the fair, its central location was also very helpful. This is due to change because of the planned construction of the underground extension to the train station due to begin in 2030. A new venue has not yet been agreed upon for the fair.

In Menzingen thieves stole a dodge car from the autumn fair and went on a joy ride with it (by pushing it as it only works when connected to electricity) before abandoning it in a field. The police is looking for witnesses.

For those of you who are autumn fair fans, the Zuger Messe will begin on October 22 and run until the 30. There will be stands selling regional products, lots of food stalls and various entertainment throughout the event. You can find out more here.

Twins aged 7 were kidnapped in the Chaux de Fonds area from their grandmother’s home. She was tied and bound before the kidnappers went away with the children. They were found safely 13 hours later in the west of France. The kidnapping seems to have been coordinated by the Spanish father. This is a new episode to a long saga, as the mother had herself taken the children away from the family home in Spain without the father’s consent. She has since been given the full custody of the children after proving serious domestic violence and moved to Switzerland. The father is actively sought by the police.

Expect Indian Summer weather this week, with sunshine and temperatures in the 20s until Friday.
