The post office is cutting back on its services, namely how frequently it empties its letterboxes. Whereas it is doubling the number of times it empties letterboxes in the morning during the week, it is cutting down where it empties letterboxes in the afternoon or on weekends. If your letter needs to arrive in a hurry, then scan the QR code on the letterbox to find out where in your neighbourhood you may have a chance of finding a letterbox being emptied more fequently.
Meggen may seem like a quiet small town but this didn’t prevent the local Raiffeinsenbank from being held up on Friday morning. Luckily the police were able to arrest the perpatrator shortly thereafter, it was a 28 year old Swiss man. This was not the first time a hold-up took place there, the last time was in 2017 and the perpetrator was an 80 year old.
From today onwards, Switzerland will be handing out the first Covid- certificates both digitally via an app and in paper form. It is expected that by the end of the month everyone who wants it, will be able to have their certificate, just in time to travel. The certificate will be compatible with the European one, thereby allowing people to travel within the EU.
Things remain complicated for foreigners outside the Schengen area wishing to come to Switzerland on holiday. Basically this is forbidden for anyone outside the Schengen area with the exception of the following countries: Andorra, Australia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Ireland, Israel, Monaco, New Zealand, Romania, Rwanda, San Marino, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand. This news does not please the tourism industry as it points out that European countries around us such as Italy are allowing Americans to come on holiday, so why not Switzerland? In fact many countries in Europe are getting ready to allow anyone who has been doubly vaccinated to enter its territories, such as France as of June 9. Hopefully Switzerland will soon follow suit.
