A fire in an apartment close to the Schappe shopping centre in Kriens claimed one victim on Sunday afternoon. 80 people were evacuated from the building situated on the Obernauerstrasse after the fire had broken out around 17.00. The victim was found in the apartment where the fire was started, it is as yet unclear what caused the fire in the first place.

This weekend the 59th lucerne cantonal music festival took place in Eschenbach. 52 brass bands (roughly 4000 musicians) from all over the region took part and 22 000 spectators enjoyed the event.

On Saturday 40 cyclist demonstrated for a more bike tolerant city policy in Lucerne. Arguing that if the stated target of doubling the number of bikes in the city is to be reached by 2035 then there needs to be more bike friendly infrastructure. They are calling for safer bike routes and more parking spots downtown.
