“I did it my wayyyyy”, probably would be the song to best represent our health minister, Alain Berset. Our numbers of cases are doubling nearly weekly, and at this rate we will be reaching 10 000 a day by the end of next week. Despite Austria and now Germany imposing more restrictions and even total (Austria starting Monday) and partial lockdowns, he has decided to do…. nothing. He is saying that our system isn’t near collapse yet so we can wait and see. There seems to be two possibilities as to why nothing is being done, the first reason is because of the upcoming referendum on November 28 where people will be voting on accepting the Covid-19 initiative launched by the government (we will be writing about it in the coming days); the other reason is because of our federalistic system (i.e each canton should decide for themselves), and that nothing seems to have been learned these past 21 months. Fingers crossed the situation doesn’t deteriorate too much…
The famous Klausjagen in Küssnacht am Rigi will not be taking place this year. This procession is a highlight of the advent season and always attracts a large crowd. In view of the rising number of cases it has been decided that it would not be reasonable to have the event. Smaller processions mainly involving school children will take place instead. This is the second year that the Klausjagen will be cancelled.

It will soon become obligatory for children up to the age of 16 to wear helmets when they are cycling. This is because the most bicycles accidents happen to children between the ages of 12 and 16, which is when they tend to wear helmets less often.
