Spring is here! With temperatures heading towards 20° we can feel the air warm up and the nights get balmier, but this also means that it’s time to put those clocks forward by one hour. So Sunday morning at 2 a.m. we will jump to 3 a.m. Here is wishing you a smooth transition. Europe has been discussing abolishing the switch between summer and winter time but the pandemic put this on the back burner, so we will have to get used to the change of time for at least another year.
Saturday evening between 8.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. will be Earth Hour, to honour this moment of taking stock of what we are doing to the environment everyone is invited to turn their lights out and reflect on what they can do to make changes in their lives and help keep our planet healthy.
In keeping with the earth hour theme here is a moving story. Next to the Luzernerhof bus stop is a linden tree which is over 100 years old. A few years back some work around it led to the soil being impoverished, and as a consequence, the tree has been suffering and is now sick. The Stadtgartnerei are refusing to cut it down and are working on improving the soil around it so that it can continue to grow and thrive. The work will continue until May 31st. A Linden tree can reach 1000 years of age.
Wishing you a lovely weekend!
