The Lucerne Festival – how to enjoy it for less.

The Lucerne Festival is one of the oldest festivals in Lucerne, founded in 1938, and is considered by many as one of the grandest. But don’t let the prices or the sign of people dressed up to the nines and bejewelled put you off. The Lucerne Festival offers loads of concerts that can be enjoyed by anyone without having to break the piggy bank or putting on your cocktail dresses (unless you want to).

The Lucerne Festival started on the 13th of August and will be running until the 15th of September giving you plenty of opportunity to catch some great acts.

For those who don’t want to leave their couch, several concerts will be broadcast either ontelevision or on the radio. More details here.

The 40 min format offers free concerts several times a week and the chance to discover new talents. More details here.

Starting on Tuesday 27th of August, there will be several groups playing in the streets of Lucerne completely free. More details here.

Some of the bigger concerts are also transmitted for free at the Inseli, bring your picnic rug, a bottle of bubbly and a cardigan to enjoy the music.

To be fair if you look at the complete programme you will see that most of the concerts are available for as little as CHF 20.- so don’t be shy make the most of this classical bonanza.
