Earlier this month, SIVO launched a call of action for volunteers to help run the UMA project. This project entails helping to support the summer activities of one of the asylum-seekers centres locally. More specifically, one of the centres is planning a few outings (hike, city outing, soccer training) with young asylum-seekers between 16 and 18 years of age. SIVO staff and the centre will organise all the logistics. Volunteers are needed to accompany the young men and women on the outings. How can you help? The two upcoming programmes (detailed below) need volunteers who are willing to donate their time to these worthwhile causes.
Swiss International Volunteer Organisation (SIVO) – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
German Lessons
SIVO is looking for people to spend a couple of hours three times a week during the period July 18 – August 5 (days are flexible) to lead a very basic German lesson (practice some words, speak in German and/or do simple games in German) with young asylum-seekers between 16 and 18. Volunteers should have good knowledge of spoken and written German. Volunteers do not need to be German native speakers.
Outing
A successful outing was held on Tuesday, July 12. An additional outing is planned for Wednesday, July 27 (half a day, morning or afternoon pending on availability) with young asylum-seekers between 16 and 18 years of age. SIVO staff and the centre will organise all the logistics. Two-three volunteers are needed to accompany the young men and women on this outing.
Please help us make their summer a fun time to remember!!! You can contact us through email to volunteer your time.
