September at the LiLi Centre

The LiLi Centre has reopened with a full programme for the international community. We are so excited to be offering such a variety of events all focused on improving your chance to connect, grow and thrive whilst living in Switzerland.

Women’s Health Advisory Session

Do you struggle to understand the health system in Switzerland? Are there questions about your health you are not sure who to address to?

Dr Catherine Muff was born and raised in Basel, Switzerland but has lived extensively abroad, including the United States where she gave birth to both her children. They recently moved to Lucerne and as a board certified OB/GYN Catherine has offered to set up a Q&A hour for questions concerning the Swiss Health System with a focus on women’s health. She would love to guide you through all the uncertainties that may come up and also tell you about dos and don’ts if there are any. Since she just returned from a two year stay in the US she can perfectly relate to what it means to be confronted with a foreign health system.

So please come by on Monday September 9th from 10:00 to 12:00 with any questions, she is happy to help and support you as best as she can!

This event is open and free to all Lili Centre members (there is a small charge for non members)

IMPORTANT: Dr. Muff cannot give you any specific medical advices or diagnosis.

Coding for Kids

The LiLi Centre is hosting a Kids Coding Club for kids aged 10 and up. The club aims to inspire and educate kids with coding skills for the 21st century. Working in Python, Scratch, and HTML/CSS, we’ll build a range of projects from websites, games, animation, and even artificial intelligence! We will learn the 4 basic concepts in coding – variables, conditionals, loops, and functions – and also have fun exploring new trends in technology. No previous coding experience required!

This class runs for 10 weeks, not counting school holidays and students should enroll for entire semester.

About the leader: Laura Kinkead: I didn’t take my very first coding class until I was 19, but I’ve been coding ever since! I’m passionate about giving kids the opportunity to learn about coding at a younger age. I am a professional Software Engineer and Data Scientist, and I’ve led a kids coding club for the last 3 years with the US-based organisation Girls Who Code.
