There really is nothing nicer on a cold wintery day than to head for a spa and indulge in some luxurious pampering. Here are a few of our favourites.
Rigi Kaltbad Mineral Bad
People have been enjoying the special mineral waters here for over 600 years, but the venue has been recently refurbished and is wonderfully luxurious with a spectacular scenery. The train ride up adds to the charm and feeling of really getting away. Entrance fee: CHF 35.- Website
Swiss Holiday Park
Nestled in Morschach, the Swiss Holiday Park is a family favourite. Not only because of the great slides (for the kids) and the wonderful baths; sitting under a starry night enjoying a bubble bath is just magic, but also for its sauna, Hamman area and its Roman-Irish Thermal Baths. An added plus is the small ski area right next door. The hotel also offers lots of activities for big and small, making this a great getaway 30 minutes from Luzern. Entrance fee from CHF 20. Frutt Lodge & Spa
Imagine going snowshoeing or skiing and then taking a break in a lovely spa, this is what is on offer in Melchsee Frutt: a lovely up to date, luxurious spas, in the middle of the slopes. As an external guest you can enjoy the spa (upon reservation) and all its amenities for CHF 35.- between the times of 10am and 2pm and 6pm and 9pm. Website
Villa Honegg
If you really want to splurge then a visit to the Villa Honegg in Ennetbürgen is a lovely treat. This place offers a day spa package with either a lovely breakfast or two-course lunch, a 60-minute facial treatment and the full day use of their wellness area and gym. Day Spa Package: CHF 220. The Palace Hotel offers an astonishing relaxing experience with its giant Singing Bowl: you lie in a hammock above the massive bronze bell which is then struck, the vibrations are said to penetrate right to the core of your body and give you the ultimate experience in relaxation. CHF 85.- for a 25-minute session.
The Fitness Park National
This fitness centre situated opposite the Grand Hotel National has a lovely wellness area, with several pools (indoors and outdoors), Jacuzzi, hammam, sauna and massages. The CHF 44.- entrance fee includes a bathrobe, bath slippers, a towel and free use of both the fitness centre and wellness area. More information here.
