LiLi Centre – 2 years on

It seems incredible that the LiLi Centre should already be celebrating its second birthday. At the same time, for so many people, it seems astounding that the centre is only 2 years old. In its short existence it has taken its place in the community with ease and now plays a big role in the integration process of many.

The centre continues to be a home from home for many as well as a learning centre, a networking place, an entrepreneurs’ hub or simply a fun place to hang out.

Started as a grassroot project the centre remains open to new ideas and ways to be used. Our five spaces are divided into: a social area – the Pad; a place to cook & eat – the Hob; a therapy room – the Nest; a rehearsal, small movie/ theatre room – the Fridge and our most versatile room – the Hive, where we run workshops, classes, yoga, pilates and theatre sessions as well as have great international dinners.

The centre continues to be run entirely by volunteers and is funded thanks to memberships fees, rentals and subsidies from the town and other organisations.

The centre is open Monday trhough Friday and whenever there are classes/workshops.

It seems as if every day brings another demographic group to the centre, be it people wanting to learn German, families with little ones to socialize, older kids going to the HSK school, job seekers, people wanting to network, entrepreneurs, sporty people, newcomers, oldtimers, locals, the list goes on and on.

One thing everyone agrees on is that it is a friendly space, a place where you can enjoy just hanging out and meeting like minded people. As Dr Brandi Eisjserman notes, it is a third space. We will shortly release our podcast with her where we talk about the topic.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]In the meantime we would like to invite you to our second anniversary celebration on Saturday 23rd of June from 9.30 to 22.00. [/perfectpullquote]

We look forward to a great day of celebration and will have a full day of fun activities for everyone.
