Do you know this region yet? If you don’t know, then you really should visit it once – and soon!
Entlebuch is a bit of an unknown valley between Luzern and Bern which leads towards the Emmental region. Thankfully, it’s a protected UNESCO area and the residents once voted that no motorway will cut it’s landscape – ever!! Luckily they did so because any bit of concrete surface would only ruin the picturesque scenery.

To get there you can get the regional train of the BLS which will wind it’s way through Malters – Wolhusen – Entlebuch – Schüpfheim and Escholzmatt. This is one of my favourite train rides, having done it many times and in all seasons! The photo’s in the slideshow are from this winter and last summer. What a colourful adventure it always is.

I took these pictures out of the window of the train, it’s great fun (some are with the APP Hipstamatic).
When autumn was still golden, we went walking in Finsterwald which is above the village Entlebuch.

The other day we went skiing in Sörenberg.

Entlebuch has many powerful spots where you can get your own personal resources to fill up your soul.
Heiligkreuz for example, or the Lourdes grotto in Marbach, which is the last village of the canton of Luzern.

Also from Bramboden you can walk to the Napf, which is not a difficult mountain to hike.

The river Kleine Emme is also great for a walk especially when you have kids.

In Hasle there is a wonderful big natural playground after a wooden bridge. A perfect spot for a picnic or you can even have a barbecue.

I grew up partly in Schüpfheim and when I was young I always wanted to discover the world.
Now I believe my home region holds my roots and my strength and I am pulled to it again, as I appreciate it’s calm and it’s nature.

The locals are very authentic and are known to be focused on their work and their tasks.
They also love their sports clubs or folk music with jodelling or brass bands, rock and so on.

There’s a funny band from that region that plays AC/DC songs in swiss german farmer style versions.

Of course you have to try the Entlebucher Kafi Schnaps.

Wishing you a great stay/visit to the Entlebuch where you can always find something to do, no matter what the season!!
