Easter in and around Lucerne

For most of us Easter will be a staycation again this year, but with good weather and warm temperatures there still are plenty of things to do.

For people wishing to celebrate the Christian meaning of Easter in English the International Church of Lucerne is offering the following:

  • 2nd April Good Friday  Outreach Service 10:30am
  • 4th April  Easter Sunday: 10:30am Easter Sunday Celebration . All invited to wear something from your home nation.
  • Please register for services on website

The Catholic English Church of Lucerne will have their Holy Week services:

  • Holy Thursday (April 1): 5.30 p.m.
  • Good Friday (April 2): 3 p.m.
  • Easter Vigil (April3): 6.30 p.m.

For many Easter is more about celebrating the renewal of spring and includes lots of chocolate and family outings here are some ideas for you.

For chocolate lovers, here is a post with loads of chocolate hotspots!

Like every year the nature museum is offering children the chance to see baby chicks up close and personal. You must make an appointment to do so though.

The Monet Exhibition is a really fun interactive exhibition and a fun way to get children involved in art.

My personal favourite park is the Seleger Moor which reopens tomorrow, it might not be Monet’s garden in Givenchy but it does boast water lilies, rhododendrons and azaleas galore and loads of winding paths to get “lost” in. You need to book tickets to visit the park online.

Of course our two favourite mountains are gorgeous this time of year!

Take a round trip (boat and cable car) to visit the Queen of the mountains: Rigi.

Or visit the stunning Pilatus, enjoying the Dragon Moor and Piluland.

Obviously there will be no brunches in town, but you can take a picnic with you into the forest. Remember that this is tick season! so wear protection and only build fires in official firepits. Also as of April 1st dogs must be kept on leashes.

The ski resorts are still open and they received a fresh dump of snow last week so skiing conditions remain perfect!

All in all loads to do over the coming days. Happy Easter!
