We’ve rounded up some of the best birthday offers we’ve found in Central Switzerland and within easy reach of the region. Most require you to show a valid ID, and many are valid only on your actual birthday, so don’t forget your passport or Swiss ID.
🚢 Cruise Lake Lucerne in First Class
Let’s start with one of the most spectacular birthday freebies.
On your birthday, Lake Lucerne Navigation lets you travel free of charge in 1st class on all regularly scheduled cruises on Lake Lucerne. Simply show an official ID or passport proving your date of birth and you’ll receive a free day ticket. The offer is valid on scheduled services but excludes specially themed cruises.
That means you could spend your birthday cruising around Lake Lucerne, hopping off in places such as Weggis, Vitznau or Brunnen, going for a walk and then continuing your journey, all without paying for the boat.

Hoher Kasten
At Hoher Kasten, birthday guests receive a free return journey by cable car from BrĂĽlisau to Hoher Kasten. The offer is available to birthday guests who present valid ID at the ticket office. At the top you’ll find panoramic views across the Alpstein and beyond, making this one of the easiest ways to turn your birthday into a memorable mountain day.

The birthday offer at Niederhorn is wonderfully straightforward: on your birthday, you can travel to Niederhorn for free. Once you’re at the top, you can enjoy the views across Lake Thun and the surrounding Alps, with plenty of hiking options depending on the season.

Niesenbahn
The iconic Niesen pyramid has an equally attractive birthday offer. The Niesenbahn currently states that you get a free funicular ride on your birthday, provided you have valid ID. The funicular climbs from MĂĽlenen towards Niesen Kulm, where you get one of those classic Bernese Oberland panoramas.

Schynige Platte plus dessert
This might be the sweetest deal of the bunch. On your birthday, Jungfrau Railways lets you travel free on the Schynige Platte Railway and gives you a complimentary homemade dessert. The offer is valid for both adults and children and requires an identity card. For 2026, the birthday offer runs from 13 June to 25 October.
So you get a nostalgic mountain railway journey, spectacular views towards the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, and then a free dessert. Honestly, birthdays don’t get much better than that.

Meiringen-Hasliberg
The Meiringen-Hasliberg mountain area is another one to put on your birthday radar, with birthday guests reported as receiving complimentary mountain railway travel. Because mountain offers can be seasonal and tariff conditions change, check the current conditions before travelling and take your ID with you.

For winter birthdays, several ski areas are particularly generous.
Atzmännig
At Atzmännig, your birthday can get you onto the slopes for free. The resort states that birthday guests receive a free ski day pass in winter. In summer, the birthday offer switches to free rides on the chairlift and toboggan run, as well as the sliding tower. The offer is valid for adults and children and requires photo ID.

Sörenberg is another excellent birthday option. During the summer season, birthday guests can travel free on the Rossweid gondola, Brienzer Rothorn aerial cableway and Eisee chairlift. That gives you several ways to spend your birthday in the mountains, from a panoramic ride to the Brienzer Rothorn to exploring the area around Eisee.

Aquabasilea
At aquabasilea in Pratteln, the birthday offer is exceptionally simple: visitors of any age receive free admission to the bathing world on their birthday. You need to show valid ID. Want to add the sauna? That’s possible for an additional CHF 2, while the hammam costs an additional CHF 10.

The Tamina Therme offers one of the best birthday wellness deals we’ve found. On your birthday, you receive free admission for the day to either the thermal spa or the sauna world. It’s a particularly good option if your birthday falls during colder weather, spend the day floating in thermal water while looking out towards the surrounding mountains.

If you’re looking for something closer to home, Swiss Holiday Park in Morschach gives birthday guests 30% off individual admissions. The common theme with almost all of these offers is proof that it’s actually your birthday. Don’t leave home without your passport or Swiss identity card.
