Where to eat with special diet + needs

Following a special diet or having food intolerances is not always easy. But fear not! We have looked into restaurants which cater for you.

Blend Teehaus (Furrengasse 7) offers plant-based milks with a choice of more than 40 teas. Their daily lunch menu changes every week, and they also offer “Mezzes” and pastries. Every Sunday they organise an oriental vegan brunch from 10:00-14:00.

100% vegan; gluten-free options; almost no soy/nut products; vegan wine

If you are more into cakes, then the CrazyCupCake Café (Bruchstrasse 47) is your place. This is a small venue, full of cosy sofas where you can relax. They also have gluten free, sugar free, soy free and raw options. 2-3 times a month, they also organise a vegan brunch.

100% vegan; gluten-free options; no alcohol

Karls Kraut (St. Karliquai 7) offers a lunch buffet, while their evening menu usually includes at least one burger – oh yes! Their vegan menu also labels their dishes with gluten, soy and nuts. Their selection is small, but exclusive and seasonal. From May 2018, a vegan brunch is planned for every first Sunday of the month.

100% vegan; 75% gluten-free; vegan wine; allergens are very well-labelled

If you’re vegan or allergic to something, but your family and friends aren’t, your solution is in Emmen: Restaurant Prelude (Rüeggisingerstrasse 20a) provides vegan options as well as dishes with animal products. They also label gluten, raw dishes, nuts, etc. What makes this place extraordinary, however, is their Monday special, ‘Flammkuchen’ à discrétion.

50%vegan; 25% gluten-free; other allergen free food 25%; 60% of the wine is vegan
