There are less than three weeks left of 2024 (we know, where did the year go?!), and there is no time like the present to start thinking about how you would like to celebrate the New Year. If you’re still undecided, and are looking for something special or a bit different, then you’re in luck. We have found 4 unique ways to celebrate the New Year in Lucerne, from magical lake views to dining and dancing. Check them out below and make sure to book in advance!
1 – Watch the Lucerne New Year Firework Display
On the 1st January at 20:15, the annual Lucerne firework display takes place over-looking Lake Lucerne. It is a beautiful event, and might be just what you need if you’re looking for something more relaxed, family-friendly, with a little bit of a bang! The best spot to watch the display is near the lake. Make sure that you wrap up warm.
2 – Stay the night at the top of Pilatus
For something truly unique and a New Year to remember, book a stay at the top of Mount Pilatus where you will be able to enjoy incredible views of Lucerne. From CHF 485.- per person, you get a return trip up the mountain, a 5-course dinner, champagne to enter 2025, an overnight stay, and a breakfast buffet. 3 – Take a cruise on Lake Lucerne
Is there anything more iconic than the mountains and lakes of Switzerland? Why not take a cruise on Lake Lucerne to celebrate the New Year, enjoying a truly Swiss experience with spectacular views of the city and surrounding mountains. 4 – Party the night away at one of Lucerne’s iconic hotels
Lucerne may a ‘quieter’ city in Switzerland to some, but they sure know how to throw a New Year’s Eve party. There are plenty of hotels, bars, and venues offering New Year’s Eve celebrations if you’re looking for something a little more lively. Many come with the option of dinner and an overnight stay, so make sure to book in advance. We recommend this if you feel like getting your glam on, enjoy some great food, and dusting off your dancing shoes!
