Coronavirus – latest update

There now are 15 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country; containment has proved to work well in other countries so based on this the Swiss government has made the following decision:

As of today and until March 15th no events with more than 1000 people gathered will be allowed in the country. This affects the Bern and Basel Fasnacht as well as the Geneva Car Exhibition which have all been cancelled. It is unclear whether tonight’s Swiss Music Awards in the KKL will take place or not.

Many sporting events have also been cancelled including all Super League and Challenge League games and all ice hockeys games this weekend will take place without an audience.

The Hallenstadion in Zürich is also cancelling all its concerts until March 15th.

The Swiss Health Organisation is calling for people to wash their hands regularly (for at least 30 seconds), sneeze into their elbow or tissues and self isolate should they have a fever and are coughing.

It is harder and harder to find hand disinfectant in town but washing your hands for 30 seconds is just as efficient.

If you have any queries the swiss health’s organisation hotline is: 058 463 00 00 from 8.00 to 18.00

We will try to keep you informed with any further bulletins.
