Whereas most of the world maybe remembering their dead on this day, in the town of Luzern there will be a completely different type of celebration because Fasnacht 2020 begins on the 11.11 @11.11. Tonight most of the Güggebands will be meeting up to decide on their chosen subject for next February, and the textile and Fasnacht shops will be ransacked in the coming weeks as the band members begin to work on their costumes; rehearsal rooms will begin to burst with the cacophonic sound of Guggemusic as the weekly practices begin. So don’t be shocked if you see a couple of Guggemusic bands out and about tonight, they actually have a reason to be hitting the streets.
